Westport is located in southwestern Connecticut, on Long Island Sound, at the mouth of the Saugatuck River, near Norwalk. It is a residential center and a boating center. Westport's economy is based on retail and professional services. Points of interest include a nature center, an outdoor theater, two year-round performing arts theaters, and several colonial structures, such as the Osborne House (1700) and the Nash House (1740). A 2006 real estate survey has estimated the population of Westport, Connecticut at 26,592.
