Plantation is located in southeastern Florida, near the South New River Canal. It is primarily a residential suburb of Fort Lauderdale and has some light industry. The Everglades and a Seminole reservation are in the vicinity. A 2005 real estate survey has estimated the population of Plantation, Florida at 85,889.
