New Meadows is located, in Adams County, in a beautiful valley. Before the arrival of the white man, the Nez Perce Indians called the place Salmon Meadows because of the abundance of salmon in the Little Salmon River. The ranching and logging basis for New Meadows' economy is being supplemented by tourism. A 2006 real estate survey has estimated the population of New Meadows, Idaho at 492.
