Glendale is located in southwestern California. The city is located at the junction of the San Gabriel and San Fernando valleys. Glendale is a services and residential suburb of Los Angeles. The film animation and technology industries are important to the economy. The city is home to a community college; the restored 1860s Casa Adobe de San Rafael; and the well-known Forest Lawn Memorial Park, where many of the region’s past celebrities are buried. Glendale is the site of the first Spanish land grant (Rancho San Rafael, 1784) in California. A 2005 real estate survey has estimated the population of Glendale, California at 200,065.
