Bossier City is located in northwestern Louisiana, on the Red River, opposite Shreveport. Manufactures include oil-field machinery, plastic items, mobile homes, and fishing boats. It is the home of Barksdale Air Force Base, which is important to the city's economy, as is the Louisiana Downs racetrack. A 2005 real estate survey has estimated the population of Bossier City, Louisiana at 61,306.
